The last day of the event was influenced by the rain. In facts, the programs of the competitions in Lead aNd the Closing ceremony were shortened and simplified.
The day was dominated by Japan: the Asian team brought to the 2 podia 5 athletes in total. The Slovenian climber Rosa Rekar obtained the third place in the female competition: Tomona Takao and Nonoha Kume claimed the first and second place respectively. The male’s podium was composed by Hidemasa Nishida, Mototaka Ishizu and Ao Yurikuza.
Quotes Of The Day
I’m happy with the event, also if we had some issues related to the weather conditions. I can see many students, many athletes, very happy. I really like the environment of sport climbing: it’s a very united and friendly, they can be together, have fun, one cheers for the other even if they are not from the same country.
Ágnes Ančić-Valkai, FISU
We were hosted by a very high level facility: I would like to thank the Organizing Committee who transform this project into reality. I also thank my colleagues at FISU and everyone who contributed to the event.
It was a very amazjng competition, it was nice to see many students, many climbers from around the world. It was my first time in Koper: it is a nice city, it was a good organisation, very good route-setter. Last time we obtained 11 medals, this time 7: this means that the level of the students from other countries are getting higher and higher. This is very good, this should be in every competition: it is not good if only one country is strong. The Italian team in boulder was impressive, they are much better than two years ago. Maybe the entrance of sport climbing in the Olympic family has helped this discipline to develop in other countries: anyway I am very happy about it. I don’t know where the competition will be the next time, I hope our team will still be competitive. I wish to thank you everyone that has contributed to this event, the athletes, the teams, the routesetters, the judges, the local volunteer, but aboce all Luka Fonda, the facility manager.
